Hibernian forward Dylan Vente could win his first senior international cap next month after earning a maiden call-up - to the Suriname national team.

The Rotterdam-born forward, currently on loan at Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, was capped 36 times by the Netherlands at youth level, but is also eligible to represent Suriname through his ancestry, and has been named in the country's squad for their upcoming matches. The 25-year-old could feature against Guyana and Guadeloupe in September's CONCACAF Nations League fixtures.

There was confusion in March of this year when Vente was listed in the Suriname squad for a friendly match against Martinique, despite not having decided on his international career. It's understood the player has since declared for Suriname and could make his debut under former Dutch international goalkeeper and Paramaribo-born Stanley Menzo, who took charge of the national team earlier this year.

Vente has made two appearances for Zwolle since joining on loan earlier this month, coming off the bench in a 5-1 defeat by Feyenoord and playing 81 minutes from the start in a 1-0 defeat by Nijmegen. Currently lying 16th in the 18-team Eredivisie, Zwolle host 14th-placed Heracles Almelo on Sunday as they search for their first league win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Rocky Bushiri has earned another call-up to the Congo DR squad for their AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Ethiopia while Rudi Molotnikov and Rory Whittaker are in the Scotland Under-19 squad for three friendly games in Spain against Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, and the Netherlands.

Midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh has been named in the Guyana squad and could end up facing his Easter Road colleague Vente when they play Suriname, while winger Martin Boyle is expected to be named in the Australia squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain and Indonesia in Queensland and Jakarta respectively.
