Hibernian have had two more players earn a national-team call-up ahead of next month's international break.

Striker Kieron Bowie, who signed for the Scottish Premiership side from Fulham earlier this month, and goalkeeper Murray Johnson, who is currently on a season-long loan with Airdrieonians, have been named in Scot Gemmill's squad for a crucial Euro 2025 qualification double-header against Spain and Malta.

Former Hibs defender Josh Doig has also been included in the 23-man squad for the crunch matches at Tynecastle Park on September 6, and the National Stadium in Ta'Qali, Malta.

Bowie has scored four goals in nine appearances for the Under-21s, with strikes against Hungary Malta, and Northern Ireland, and scored his first goal for David Gray's side in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Dundee.

Johnson, meanwhile, has accrued caps for the Under-16s and Under-19s but is yet to be capped by the Under-21s, having been an unused substitute for two international friendly matches against Sweden and Wales in March. The 19-year-old shot-stopper has made five appearances for the Diamonds since joining on loan in the summer.

Bowie and Johnson join Rocky Bushiri (Congo DR), Nathan Moriah-Welsh (Guyana), Rudi Molotnikov (Scotland Under-19), Dylan Vente (Suriname), and Rory Whittaker (Scotland Under-19) in earning international recognition ahead of the forthcoming break.

Vente could make his international debut for Suriname after switching allegiance, having represented the Netherlands in more than 30 matches at youth level. He was erroneously named in a squad earlier this year, causing confusion, with insiders confirming he hadn't made a decision on his international future.

However, the 25-year-old - currently on loan at PEC Zwolle in his homeland - appears to have declared for the South American nation ahead of their CONCACAF Nations League fixtures against Guyana - in which he could come up against Easter Road colleague Moriah-Welsh - and Guadeloupe next month.
