Today is the first day of our Black Friday sale: a limited-time offer of an entire year’s subscription to the Hibs Observer, for £12.

Or, if you prefer, £1 per month. AKA, our best-ever offer.

As editor of the Hibs Observer, it's my pleasure to explain exactly why I think that represents great value for money, and why I think you should take advantage of this offer.

£1 per month for news and opinion, extensive coverage of every match home and away, in-depth tactical analysis, scouting reports on transfer targets, exclusive interviews, regular video discussions, and more that you won’t get anywhere else is an absolute steal, in my opinion.

CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE HIBS OBSERVER FOR JUST £1 PER MONTH

We’re the only media outlet dedicated to covering Hibs, and Hibs only. Think in-depth, well-researched, high-quality, unrivalled journalism with no catches. If you want to know which Easter Road midfielder has the highest on-ball value, we can tell you. If you don’t have a clue what on-ball value is, we can tell you that as well.

But we also bring you the bread and butter - every word from the manager before and after matches; extensive coverage of fixtures with key talking points, tactical breakdown podcasts, and stats-driven analysis in partnership with StatsBomb; exclusive interviews with players, and not just the ones in the limelight; insight into the club’s academy and youth development; deep dives into key staffing appointments; the lowdown on transfer targets; coverage of pre-season training camps, and so much more.

It would be fair to say that things haven't exactly gone according to plan for Hibs so far this season but with a Hibs Observer subscription, you can stay up to date with the latest from Easter Road and HTC.

Why should I pay for a subscription when I can get news elsewhere for free?

As editor of the Hibs Observer, I truly believe in the value of good, trusted journalism and providing in-depth local news coverage deserving of a club of Hibs' stature.  If you share that view, joining our subscription family secures you access to unlimited, advert-light access to all our content from journalists you know and can trust - on whatever device you like.

In 2024, we use our mobile phones for just about everything: keeping up to date with news, social media, listening to podcasts and music, shopping, watching TV programmes or films, playing games, taking and posting photos.

I know only too well how frustrating it is to visit a website and be overwhelmed by intrusive adverts that make it virtually impossible to read a news article and slow down your device.

When you take out a digital subscription with the Hibs Observer, you'll experience up to 80% less advertising, meaning faster-loading pages, and a much more enjoyable user experience.

On top of that, our dedicated app can be downloaded for Apple or Android and is a completely advert-free experience and can be customised in terms of text-to-speech, changing font size, and bookmarking articles for later reading, among other functions.

Subscription journalism is becoming widespread and while I know many people are already paying out for the likes of Netflix, Spotify, or other streaming services along with the cost of living increasing, I believe our offer represents great value. £1 a month is a small price to pay to ensure you can read our content without being visually and aurally assaulted by pop-ups, irrelevant adverts, and videos.

Ultimately, you are supporting well-researched, quality journalism all about YOUR club, created by writers you can trust who care about providing the best content possible.

You can also keep up to date with us everywhere. Join our WhatsApp channel, subscribe to our YouTube channel, follow us on BlueSky, follow us on X (formerly Twitter), or Facebook

Who we are

I joined the Hibs Observer as editor after three years as the chief Hibs writer for the Edinburgh Evening News, and over a decade fulfilling various roles with The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, and Evening News. I felt there was a gap in the market for a media outlet focused entirely on Hibs that could give supporters content they wanted to read about their club that wasn't available anywhere else.

Writer Liam Bryce is an award-winning football journalist with extensive experience covering the game in Scotland. He brings a keen analytical eye to Hibs games as well as a flair for covering key topics in an engaging fashion, and since we launched has developed a real talent for presenting our many video shows.

Craig Nisbet, better known by some as 9125analysis, is a former Hibs academy coach and our resident tactics guru. If you want to know the reasons behind David Gray choosing a certain formation, or the pros and cons of playing out from the back, Craig has you covered. He makes tactics accessible through his range of written work and his regular appearances on our Monday briefings in which he talks us through the weekend's game in a straightforward, jargon-light manner.

For a measured but forthright voice from the stands Matty Fairnie, founder of the Longbangers podcast, regularly shares his opinion in our pre-match videos and can always be counted on to bring thoughtful and considered views to topics good and bad.
