Will Fish feels confident declaring that Hibs have turned a corner, but cautions that there must be much more to come.

The centre-back credits a change of shape and the arrival of some 'world class' quality, and believes European football is not yet out of their grasp come season's end. Saturday's 2-0 win over Ross County propelled Nick Montgomery's side back into the top six, and they have a game in hand that could close the gap on fifth-placed Kilmarnock to four points.

"Yeah I'd say so," said Fish when asked if Hibs' campaign is on the up. "Our recent form has been pretty good., We have had a few draws that we should have picked up three points from.

"But that's football and football is about momentum. So we are looking at the future. Most of the games are easily winnable.

"I've seen a lot in terms of improvement. We changed to a three-man midfield and as a defensive unit feels a lot more solid and secure.

"So it will be interesting to see how that pans out. Look it's all down to what we do and how much desire we show.

"When the gaffer came in we were 4-4-2. but results made us switch to a three so I think we have been a lot better attacking and defending in that shape. But whatever the manager wants us to do we will do our best."

Of course, it also helps to be bolstered in January by what Fish believes are two 'world class' talents in Myziane Maolida and Emiliano Marcondes. The former scored his fourth goal in nine outings at the weekend, and his overall impact on Hibs' attack has been transformative. Marcondes, still looking for peak fitness after a long-term injury lay-off, looked a little jaded after his third game in a week, but his quality has been undeniable.

"When you look at Marcondes and Maolida, they are world class players," said Fish. "Those two coming into the club in January has helped us massively and given us something different we didn't have.

"It is a team game and it's not just down to those two, but they are really, really influential. Maolida just enjoys playing football and he's really tidy on the ball, knows when to pass it and when to take players on so long may it continue."

With the Premiership split fast approaching, Fish feels that if Hibs can secure their place in the top half, then nothing should stop them pushing on for a European place in the final weeks of the campaign. Montgomery's side were five points adrift of the top six a little over a week ago, but seven points from nine during a busy week - plus results elsewhere going their way - have put Hibs' destiny back in their own hands. And Fish is adamant they now have the requisite quality to ensure it stays there.

"Of course, it's the aim [Europe]," said the on-loan Manchester United defender. "Nothing is impossible. You look at that team we have out there and it is full of goals with really good attacking and creative players.

"So as we long as we stick to what we know as a team and stick to our principles we will be all right. The top six is the minimum we expect.

"I think a lot of our games left are against teams below us. So we have got a really good chance to kick on and get a really good end to the season."
