Former Hibs manager Lee Johnson has left Fleetwood Town after just three months in charge.

Johnson was sacked at Easter Road in August before quickly returning south of the border to EFL League One, but has now departed after a dismal run of seven defeats and two draws in the last nine matches.

A 2-0 defeat at home to Bolton has proven his final match in charge with the club sitting 23rd in the table, just a point above bottom-placed Carlisle United. The club issued a statement on Saturday afternoon announcing that Johnson and his entire coaching staff have left their posts.

The statement said: "Fleetwood Town can confirm Lee Johnson has left the club with immediate effect.

"Assistant manager Darren Way and first team Coach Phil Jevons will also depart – everyone at the club would like to place on record our thanks to Lee, Darren, and Phil for their hard work and professionalism during their time at the club.

"The club will issue a further update on the first team staff in due course."

Johnson was appointed Hibs manager in May 2022, and led the club to a fifth-placed finish in his only full season in charge, a return that came with a chance at Europa Conference League qualification. But amid a run that ended with defeat to Aston Villa, Johnson's Hibs toiled domestically, and he left the club following a winless opening to the current Premiership campaign.
