Nick Montgomery says Hibs won't be advancing interest in Brazilian trialist Adryan after he was handed a chance to impress at the Dubai training camp.

The manager also revealed no decision has been taken regarding Kris Moore, on trial from Leeds United, and that talks are ongoing over whether Kanayo Megwa remains at Easter Road or returns to his loan with Airdrie.

The 19-year-old has impressed the management team after being drafted back in for the trip to the United Arab Emirates, and his next steps are currently 'under discussion'. Montgomery insists it's been a 'busy week' on the transfer front as attempts to add quality and depth to his squad for the second half of the campaign.

But any potential arrivals won't include 29-year-old free agent Adryan, most recently of Serie B side Brescia, who was invited to train with the group as he seeks to end a period out of the game.

"Adryan is a Brazilian player who was out in Dubai and I know his agent," Montgomery explained. "It was an opportunity to have a look at him. He is a very talented player, he’s had a good career but it’s been well documented – some of it wrongly so in some of the things I have been sent!

"He’s a player who’s had a big stall in his career and needs to be get back playing so yes, there won’t be anything moving forward with that. Hopefully, he can take this experience and go on and find a club that’s maybe in a pre-season because I think if he could get himself match fit he’s a very talented player.

"But to be honest for him to come and train has been good and gave us an extra number as well because we are really light on bodies with so many players out on loan, and young players too, we were struggling to get 11 v 11. So in that regard it has been really positive and we wish him well moving forward."

Moore, meanwhile, will return to Leeds after the training camp ends, but Montgomery has not ruled out completing a loan deal for the 20-year-old defender, who featured in a closed-door friendly defeat to Swiss side Servette last week.

“The next step is we have another session this afternoon, we travel back tomorrow, and he’ll go back to Leeds," said Montgomery. "It’s been fantastic, obviously I’m local boy from Leeds and for them to allow us to bring the player, it’s been a good opportunity for him.

“It was important to be able to bring him and Kanayo Megwa. Lewis Miller is away with Australia and it could be for six-seven games if they get through to the final. Kris will go back to Leeds and we’ll have a discussion.

“If I feel he can help the squad moving forward, then it’s something we’ll discuss. But, as I mentioned, Kanayo Megwa came back from his loan and I’ve been really impressed with him at right-back.

“Kris is more of a centre-back who’s been playing right-back. Nothing will happen other than a discussion. The window will be open for a couple more weeks, it could be an opportunity or we could decide to stay with what we’ve got in the building."

Montgomery could yet decide to recall Megwa from his loan at Airdrie. The teenager has been a revelation at the Excelsior Stadium, and the manager was keen to take a closer look at him over the past week. He will now make a decision as to whether he feels Megwa should be officially recalled.

“It’s under discussion," said Montomery. "How do you create more of a budget? One way is moving players out on loan. In Kanayo’s case he is a young player and it’s not about the value of his contract but what he can give us moving forward.

“The whole point of a loan spell is developing players. Hopefully they progress and they get the experience. Then they find confidence they can compete against men and handle the physicality.

“He seems to have come out of his shell a little since he came back to the club. He is quiet but has real good attributes. He has a lot to learn tactically and technically but the best way to do that is if he trains with the first team.

“If I feel he can help the squad then I will discuss it with Brian and the football staff when I get back. Going on this week he has definitely improved and that’s credit to the loan he had. It’s been a good exercise.

“There’s a couple more weeks left of the window so we will keep an eye on that one and make the decision I feel is the right one.”

Montgomery says he remains in constant contact with Brian McDermott as we enter the final two weeks of the window, and that discussions have been held over several players.

"I’ve been on the phone to Brian McDermott every day," said the manager. "Lots of players coming through and looking at players - clubs contacting about possibly taking one or two players on loan. That is normal at this time of year. We’re working really hard to see if we can add a few quality additions that can make an impact.

"It’s been a busy week on that front and exciting as well in trying to strengthen the squad within the budget we have, that is always the difficult thing."

Hibs retain an interest in Adelaide United's rising star Musa Toure, but Montgomery stressed that with the player coming to the end of his contract with the A-League side, movement on that front is more likely in the summer.

“It was documented a few months ago that we’d made an enquiry," said Montgomery. "He’s a very good young player that I know from Australia. We have made an enquiry but there’s nothing concrete. I know there’s been discussions between the clubs, and he’s got interest from elsewhere.

“Until there’s anything concrete, it’s just interest. He’s definitely the sort of young player profile – potential, athletic – that could come to Europe.

“Hopefully that can be a club like Hibs. But there’s nothing concrete. We’re definitely looking at players for next season, free contracts, for example. We’ve got a long list of players out of contract.

“It’s important we do make the enquiries, speak to the clubs and agents. But that’s just one step, there’s another 50 steps before you get anywhere near getting a player in the door!

“That’s a process every club goes through, and it’s a long, drawn out process. It would be for next season. It’s been documented he’s out of contract.

“In Australia, a lot of players do run their contracts down because there’s no transfer fees between Austraian clubs. That’s the way a lot of players move on to different clubs, they don’t sign long-term contracts.

“It’s been documented his situation may be a little bit different, but he’s a player we’re interested in, and he definitely fits the profile of where I see the club moving forward – young players with big potential coming in to develop in a really competitive league."
