The clock is ticking down to Hibs' return to action - and the end of the transfer window.
With much to discuss, Hibs Observer editor Patrick McPartlin was joined by Liam Bryce to discuss all the latest issues from Easter Road. Publicly, it's been a quiet month so far on the signing front, but work remains ongoing behind the scenes to strengthen Nick Montgomery's squad for the second half of the campaign. The manager is in constant contact with sporting director Brian McDermott as he navigates the pitfalls and perils of the January window.
But the fact remains that Hibs do urgently need re-enforcements to a thread squad that felt the strain in the weeks before the winter break. Brazilian attacker Adryan joined the group in Dubai but Montgomery revealed there would be 'nothing moving forward' on that front, while also stating that no decision yet had been taken on Kris Moore, a trialist from Leeds United.
Kanayo Megwa's impressive week at the camp may be influencing Montgomery's thinking for right-back cover. The 19-year-old, a standout on-loan at Airdrie in the first half of the season, joined the travelling party and the manager will now decide whether to officially recall him for the remainder of the campaign.
Hibs were put through gruelling double sessions across the week as Montgomery sought to drive up fitness levels across the board, and his team will return to the pitch on Saturday with a Scottish Cup test away at Forfar Athletic. The Station Park side sit eighth in League Two, winning just four games from 20, but they will be fired up to catch Hibs cold and spring a monumental fourth round shock. It's now over to Montgomery and his players to make sure that doesn't happen.
