Top line summary:
- Agreed with Nick Montgomery that Hibs were the better team
- Didn't want to comment on penalty controversy
- Believes team is heading in the right direction
- Enjoying playing alongside Emiliano and Myziane
Jordan Obita spoke to the media following Hibs' 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tynecastle; here's all the full-back had to say...
Your manager said Hibs deserved all three points...
“I agree, we were the better team. We created the most chances, they made a few blocks and cleared a few off the line. We deserved to win the game."
Did it just need a bit more composure in front of goal?
“I don’t agree; I think they just made some good blocks. There were two or three off the line, which is good defending from them. If we'd taken those chances, then we could have killed the game."
Was it a case of VAR going against Hibs once again?
“I don’t want to comment on that, because everybody knows, everyone’s seen it. That’s not down to me, I don’t want to comment.”
Were you hit by something thrown from the crowd?
“Not that I can remember. A lot of stuff was being thrown and we don’t condone that behaviour but that’s what happens in derbies."
Has Nathan Moriah-Welsh given you more freedom to focus on attacking?
“That extra player in midfield does allow us full-backs to venture forward. It’s good for me and Lewis Miller. I do enjoy getting forward to get balls in the box, or get some shots off."
It was just the 21 shots for Hibs on Wednesday night...
“That’s the sort of stuff we want to be getting. If we can turn 21 shots into double figures in terms of shots on target, and get a few goals, that’s what we’re aiming for."
You seem to have struck up a good understanding with Myziane Maolida?
“All the wingers we have are very good. At the moment, it’s Myziane and we have a good relationship. There are times I try to leave him one-on-one, or we can have two-v-one moments where he can pass me the ball and I get a cross in. That’s what we try to do, expose the full-back."
What's he like to play against in training?
“Luckily I’ve not had to play against him too much in training. Watching him against other full-backs, it would be a nightmare. The guy is so comfortable on both feet, and he’s very good at dribbling."
Emiliano Marcondes has brought something extra as well...
“You can see his quality. He’s scored two goals now and I’m sure he can do more. He has unbelievable quality, and I’m sure he’ll show that more with every game he plays."
Is this a team going in the right direction?
“Of course. We have all our players back from injury and internationals. The quality here is very good and I believe we can turn a massive corner and progress.”
Is it good to have Rocky back alongside you?
"Yeah but you know, Paul [Hanlon] and Nectar [Triantis] are also very good. We have good quality and depth there now, I’m sure that’s good for the manager."
