Martin Boyle is 'progressing slowly' towards a Hibs return, but Nick Montgomery says the winger is still feeling after-effects of the concussion sustained against Rangers.

Boyle was taken to hospital after an accidental collision with John Souttar during last Sunday's Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat at Easter Road, having received extensive treatment on the pitch. The 30-year-old was discharged from Edinburgh Royal Infirmary the following day but must now follow a strict concussion protocol before he can get back on the pitch.

Montgomery revealed Boyle is 'not feeling great', but expects the international break will give him appropriate time to recover without missing even more football. All being well, he could take part in some form of training on Monday.

“I spoke to Martin this morning and he’s still in a dark room, not feeling great," said Montgomery. "But he’s progressing slowly. It’s never nice having a bad concussion. It’s never a good time to get injured. But going into his international break, it gives him a chance to have a couple of weeks where he can recover.

“We’re hopeful that Martin will be back in training on Monday. But the most important thing is that he’s home with his family. The doctor has been out to see him, along with the physios. He’s just nursing a bit of a bad headache from the concussion.

“That’s something we need to keep an eye on. Hopefully we can get him back in next, which gives us two weeks to prepare him to play after the break."

On the injury front, Montgomery revealed Lewis Miller is a doubt for Livingston's visit to Easter Road on Saturday having come off with a muscle injury during the 2-2 draw with Ross County.

Dylan Vente has missed the last two matches with an ankle problem, and could require the international break to return to full fitness. Jair Tavares will return to the squad following illness, and Nathan Moriah-Welsh is available after serving a suspension.
