Partick Thistle have signed Dan MacKay on a permanent deal after the Hibernian winger failed to force his way into first-team plans at Easter Road.
Signed from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the summer of 2021 by Jack Ross, the 23-year-old started well in green and white, scoring in a UEFA Europa Conference League tie against Santa Coloma of Andorra in August, but suffered an injury that blocked his progress and kept him sidelined from September until January, when he joined Kilmarnock, then in the Championship, on loan for the second half of the season.

MacKay spent the entirety of the 2022/23 campaign back in Inverness, playing 40 times for the Caley Jags and registering 13 goals involvements, but although he featured briefly for Hibs as a second-half substitute during their shock 2-1 defeat by Inter Club d'Escaldes in Andorra, he was shipped out on loan again, this time to Livingston for whom he played 29 times and notched five goal contributions.
He departs Hibs having made seven appearances and scored one goal.
Jags boss Kris Doolan said: "We came into this transfer window looking to strengthen the wide areas so adding Daniel to the squad is very pleasing. He brings a lot of pace and directness to our attacking options having played at Premiership level last season.
“After Steven Lawless’ injury we ended up with players playing out of position so we’re hoping to create a bit more depth in that part of the team this season to avoid that.
"In Daniel’s last two full seasons at this level he’s played just over 50 games and been involved in 17 goals which is a good return and we’re hoping that playing alongside some of our attacking players he can become even better and produce even more."

Centre-back Kyle McClelland left last week to join Coleraine on a season-long loan while another defender, Jacob Blaney, joined Crusaders on a permanent basis earlier this month. Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson both joined Raith Rovers on their expiry of their Hibs contracts while Dylan Tait joined Falkirk after spending the second half of last season on loan with the League One champions. Adam Le Fondre and Robbie Hamilton also left at the end of their contracts while David Marshall retired and took on the newly-created role of technical performance manager at Easter Road.
Earlier this week Hibs confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Josef Bursik on a season-long loan from Club Brugge, and the capital club are hopeful of adding further acquisitions ahead of next week's pre-season training camp in the Netherlands.
