Former Hibs loanee Myziane Maolida is finally set to leave Hertha Berlin, according to a report.
The Comoros international proved a hit at Easter Road during the latter half of last season, netting 11 goals following his arrival from Germany in January. There were faint hopes that Myziane would consider extending his stay in Edinburgh, but after leaving in May he poured cold water on the notion as he sought to secure a permanent departure from Hertha.
Before heading for Hibs, the former Lyon prodigy had been banished to the club's B team as relations with then-manager Pal Dardai reached breaking point. But the 25-year-old is reportedly on the verge of securing the fresh start he craves, with journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that he's closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Kholood. Romano says Myziane has already undergone a medical ahead of the proposed transfer.
Al-Kholood are newly promoted into the Pro League, and the forthcoming season will be their first ever in the Saudi top-flight. The club, based in Ar-Rass, are managed by Portuguese former defender Paulo Duarte, and play their home matches at the 8,000-capacity Al-Hazem Club Stadium.
Myziane was a bright spark in an otherwise disappointing 2023/24 campaign at Easter Road, but even his prolific form couldn't prevent Hibs slipping into the bottom six and, ultimately, former manager Nick Montgomery losing his job. The forward scored a final Hibs goal in the 1-1 away at Livingston on the final day of the season, and afterwards revealed his ambitions for the future.

"I want to play at the highest level I can," he said. "I will see what happens in the transfer market. If I have a good opportunity to move, for me it’s logical, I want to play at a high level. I have to see with Hertha what is happening. I think it’s clear that I want to leave Hertha, so I will see for the future."
Myziane was a product of Lyon's youth academy, and was once considered among the top young prospects in French football, finding himself linked with the likes of Barcelona. He moved from Lyon in 2018, with the deal reportedly including a €100m release clause. After a frustrating spell, though, an agreement was negotiated to transfer him to Hertha in 2021.
