Nectar Triantis is set to return to Hibs on loan.

David Gray is set to make the Sunderland prospect, who spent the latter half of last season at Easter Road, his 10th summer signing. As first reported by The Scotsman, the 21-year-old has agreed to a second stint at Easter Road and is expected to join before the 11pm deadline.

Initially signed by the Black Cats as a centre-back from Central Coast Mariners, Gray sees Triantis as an additional option in defensive midfield. Among his first decisions during a two game stint as caretaker manager at the end of last term was to restore the Australian to the base of Hibs' midfield.

Meanwhile, Dundee have rejected a fourth offer from Easter Road for Luke McCowan. The 26-year-old midfielder has been among the club's top targets this summer as he enters the final year of his contract at Dens Park, but the Tayside club have yet to have the valuation of their captain matched. Celtic are also believed to have made an initial approach.

Hibs remain active in their pursuit of further recruits before the window closes, having turned their attention to alternative defensive targets after a loan for Bournemouth centre-back Owen Bevan was scuppered by injury for a second time. Last week, head coach Gray also expressed a desire to replace Dylan Vente after the Dutch striker's loan move to Eredivisie outfit PEC Zwolle.

Two players have, so far, left Easter Road on deadline day. Jair Tavares has completed a loan move to fellow Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, while midfielder Allan Delferriere is off to Racing Union Lëtzebuerg in Luxembourg's top-flight.
