Hibs have announced the signing of Jack Iredale from Bolton Wanderers.

The defender joins late on deadline day for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year deal at Easter Road. The 28-year-old has previous SPFL experience having turned out for Greenock Morton and Queen's Park. Iredale was an Australia U-17 international, and can play at both centre-back and left-back. Head coach David Gray says he was keen to add versatility to his backline, and is confident Iredale fits the bill.

“Jack is an experienced centre-half and knows the Scottish game well from his time at Greenock Morton and Queen’s Park," Gray told Hibs' official website. “We’ve wanted to add a left-footed defender to the first team squad this window, and he adds extra flexibility and competition for places being comfortable at both centre-half and left-back. It’s great to be able to welcome Jack to Hibs and we look forward to working with him.”

Sporting director Malky Mackay says Iredale's 'experience' stood out in Hibs' decision to bring him to Edinburgh.

“Jack adds good experience to the dressing room and is an excellent character, which is important when we look at the dynamic of the squad," said Mackay. We’re delighted to bring him to the club.”

The arrival of Iredale concludes Hibs' deadline day business. The club have secured a return from Nectar Triantis from Sunderland on a season-long loan deal, with Jair Tavares and Allan Delferriere heading out on loan to Motherwell and Racing Union Lëtzebuerg, respectively.
