The international break is drawing to a close and HTC will look that bit busier with the return of domestic action just days away.

No fewer than 10 Hibs players were off representing their respective nations across the last couple of weeks, from youth level up to full internationals. There were mixed fortunes across the board, with goals scored and a few eye-catching results. Here's a quick round-up on how each player fared...

Martin Boyle started Australia's World Cup qualifying match against Bahrain but was an unused substitute for their second gam against Indonesia as they made a poor start to their third-round group stage. The Socceroos suffered a shock 1-0 defeat by Bahrain and then could only muster a goalless draw with Indonesia, leaving them already off the pace in the push for an automatic place at the 2026 World Cup. Group favourites Japan recorded back-to-back wins, with Saudi Arabia also taking four points to sit second. Boyle certainly didn't mince his words after defeat in the first fixture, insisting that as a creative outlet, he simply didn't deliver in a fixture Graham Arnold's side were widely expected to win.

"I take responsibility myself," said Boyle. "I wasn’t creative enough, I wasn’t my normal self and not as lively as I usually am, so we’ll have to rectify that, get back to the basics, try to get the one-on-one situations and create things. I was late getting into the training camp, but I can’t use that as an excuse - I’ve done it before. We’ve got all the facilities here, all the recovery stuff and I’m just disappointed I couldn’t create anything. I’ll reflect on that. We all need to do better. We need to get momentum and start winning games.”

Fellow Aussie Lewis Miller endured a similarly frustrating break, sitting out the first match through injury, then returning only as an unused substitute in the second. Australia boss Arnold said Miller's knee 'blew up a bit' on the long flight over from Edinburgh, but the defender did, at least, recover enough to occupy a seat on the bench for the following match instead of exiting the camp altogether.

There were better fortunes for Rudi Molotnikov as he featured in all three of Scotland under-19s' friendly matches against Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands and the Netherlands, scoring four goals including an impressive brace in a 2-2 draw with the Dutch. Rory Whittaker, on loan from Hibs at Spartans, was also involved for the young Scots, starting one against Faroe Islands.

Kieron Bowie and Murray Johnson were in the Scotland under-21 squad as they kept their hopes of European Championship qualification alive despite a narrow defeat to Spain in their first of two matches. Scot Gemmill's side bounced back to beat Malta 5-0, but there was cause for Hibs concern as Bowie was substituted in the first half with a hamstring injury. Johnson wasn't named in either line-up, with Lewis Budinauckas on the bench and Cieran Slicker starting. Scotland sit second in the group, level on points with Belgium ahead of the two sides' potentially pivotal meeting at Tynecastle next month.

Nathan Moriah-Welsh started both of Guyana's CONCACAF Nations League fixtures as they lost to Suriname and drew with Martinique, placing them second bottom of their group at a still early stage. The midfielder crossed paths with fellow Hibee Dylan Vente, currently on loan at PEC Zwolle, on the striker's first involvement in the Suriname setup. Vente received a maiden call-up last month, making his senior international debut off the bench in the win over Guyana - but coming on as Moriah-Welsh was subbed off so the club colleagues didn't face each other on the pitch - and notching a second cap in a draw with Martinique. Suriname sit third in the group.

Rocky Bushiri linked up with the DR Congo squad for an African Cup of Nations qualifying double-header versus Guinea and Ethiopia, respectively. The centre-back was an unused substitute in the 1-0 and 2-0 victories. The strong showings put Bushiri's side top of their group with six points.

Nohan Kenneh remains out of the picture at Easter Road, but the midfielder started twice for Liberia as their African Cup of Nations qualifying campaigned continued with a 1-1 draw against Togo and a 3-0 loss to Algeria. Liberia sit third in their group with seven points after four matches.
