Hibs remain confident of receiving a full away allocation for Sunday’s Scottish Premiership trip to Rangers after going through official SPFL channels to secure tickets for the match as a final resort.

Away allocations are ordinarily agreed between clubs without the need for league involvement but Easter Road chiefs took action following a delay in receiving ticket information for the encounter due to ongoing renovation work at Ibrox.

Hibs issued a statement last Thursday confirming that ‘detailed conversations’ concerning the away allocation were ongoing with both the SPFL and Rangers.

"Due to the ongoing maintenance at Ibrox, away ticket information has yet to be provided as Rangers go through the final stages of work to the Copland Road stand,” the statement said.

That maintenance work forced the Light Blues to play home matches at Hampden Park in the early part of the season but they returned to Govan for their 3-0 Premier Sports Cup quarter-final victory over Dundee on Saturday - albeit only the Copland Front section was open to spectators, with the rear section remaining closed.

Reports earlier this week suggested Rangers season ticket holders in the Copland Rear section have been assured of seats ‘elsewhere in the stadium’ if work is not completed in time for the visit of David Gray's side.

SPFL rule I27 stipulates that home clubs ‘must make provision for the admission of such reasonable number of visiting supporters at every home league match’ and must do so ‘no later than 14 days prior to the date of the match in question’.

Clubs are permitted to appeal to the SPFL board for a ruling on away allocation if the home club fails to provide relevant ticketing information within the required time.

Hibs were informed by league bosses on Monday that their appeal had been successful and they had been granted a full away allocation of 932 tickets.

Hibs are ready to put tickets on sale as soon as they receive them but as of Wednesday night, they were still to receive any tickets for Sunday’s encounter, and it’s understood Rangers could face repercussions from the SPFL if Hibs don't receive their full allocation ahead of the weekend.
