Winger Nicky Cadden remains out for Hibs this weekend, with his return to action 'pushed back' by up to 10 days.

Head coach David Gray confirmed the 28-year-old, a free agent summer signing after leaving Barnsley, will play no part at Dundee United on Saturday - and could miss next week's Edinburgh derby. Cadden picked up 'a niggle' upon his return to training from a previous issue, having missed the last two matches against Rangers and Motherwell.

Gray is not prepared to risk him with a busy fixture schedule approaching, but is confident he won't be out of action for much longer In better news, both Joe Newell and Martin Boyle are available for selection at Tannadice.

"Unfortunately, Nicky picked up a bit of a niggle on his rehab, so it pushed him back a little bit," said Gray at his Friday press conference. "He's another 10 days or so, maybe not quite that, another week away, I would say. Which is a frustrating one for him because he was looking really good, getting stronger all the time. So that was a difficult one for him because he was obviously playing and getting himself up to speed.

"Joe and Martin have trained throughout the whole period, which is great. It's exactly what's required. Joe's got extra minutes by the bounce game, they've got minutes in that. So they'll fall in line with the rest of the squad, which is available for selection if required at the weekend.

"But the game is 24 hours away and a lot of players have just come back. Some of them had their first training session today with having returned so late from international duty so there are a few variables within that, we need to see how they are, how they settle, how they recover, and make a decision from there."
