David Gray has provided a Hibernian injury update on three first-team players.

The Hibs head coach has revealed Chris Cadden and Dwight Gayle have been back in training this week ahead of potential returns to action in the Scottish Premiership meeting with St Mirren.

Full-back Lewis Miller, who along with Martin Boyle was named in the Australia squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, is being assessed after being withdrawn on the hour mark against Dundee United last weekend but has not been ruled out of facing the Buddies on Saturday.

"It will be a similar squad to what it was previously," said Gray in his press conference on Friday at the club's training centre.

"Dwight Gayle has got closer, Chris Cadden as well - both have been back training this week. We will see how they get on.

"And we are just assessing Lewis Miller as he came off at the 60-minute mark against Dundee United."

Kieron Bowie remains sidelined as he works his way back from a hamstring injury picked up on international duty with Scotland Under-21s in mid-September.

On the difference in Hibs from the loss to St Mirren on the opening day of the season to now, Gray added: "It is a very different squad now and it is in a very different place.

"We obviously recruited quite a few players quite late on, and quite a few players weren't fit and ready to play when they first came in.

"I'd probably say we are getting towards that period now where the group has been together for a while - Martin Boyle and Joe [Newell] missing out with injury for a period were probably ones we didn't expect.

"We always knew there was going to be a little bit of inconsistency in the team selection with new players coming in and joining."
