Former Hibernian midfielder Marvin Bartley has reignited his spat with Élie Youan - after the Easter Road attacker had a dig at the pundit for his comments during the 4-1 defeat by Dundee.
Bartley was summarising for broadcaster Premier Sports as part of their coverage of Dundee's 4-1 defeat of Hibs last weekend and highlighted Youan indulging in a spot of keepie-uppie in the wake of Jordan Obita's red card as a sign of fallen standards at his former club.
"It's embarrassing. It sums it up at the moment that he's been allowed to get away with this," Bartley said.
"Not only is he doing it, he's got players looking at him and allowing him to do it. So either he does what he wants and he doesn't listen anyway or the players don't care. I don't know which one of the two it is. But that is not acceptable. You've just had a player sent off. Get across to your manager, find out what you're going to do for the next ten or 15 minutes to see this game out until half-time or whatever else it might be. But doing that... that just sums up the players."
Hibs head coach David Gray, who was team-mates with Bartley between 2015 and 2019 suggested reaction to the incident had been blown out of proportion - 'there's no malice in it' - but said he understood why the ex-Queen of the South boss had felt compelled to comment on the situation.
The row continued late on Tuesday as Youan posted a picture on social media of himself posing with the man-of-the-match champagne he won for his role in Hibs' 3-3 draw with Aberdeen. He tagged Bartley in the image and quoted his 'it's unacceptable' comment accompanied by three 'shushing' emojis.
But Bartley responded on Wednesday with a message of his own, listing a number of 'unacceptable things' from the situation Hibs find themselves in.
"Good morning Élie," he wrote. "Well done on your MOTM. I'm guessing you've tagged me as we both now have iconic pictures after winning 'honours' at Hibs?! [a reference to Bartley's open-top bus selfie during Hibs' Scottish Cup-winning parade in 2016]
"Your caption is perfect! Here's a few of the current unacceptable things for you my friend! We've nine points from a possible 42, we're currently nine points off the top six, we've won one game out of 14 in the league, not only do we sit BOTTOM of the league we have also won less games than San Marino this season!!!
"To have the audacity to post this when we're literally last and not even won the game is quite something. Hopefully we kick on and move to a more respectable position ASAP. All the best and well done again buddy."
